These are the top trends on X worldwide, in X's own order. Click any trend to see how it has moved and to open its posts. Below, see which topics are trending in several countries at once and the top five in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India and South Africa.

Trending in several countries at once

Topics in the top 50 of at least two of the six countries we track, with their rank in each. A story that crosses borders usually shows up here before it reaches the worldwide list.

How this list works

  • Where it comes from. Every 15 minutes we fetch X's own trend list for the worldwide location through our trends endpoint. The order is X's; we don't re-rank it. It's the location list, not the personalised "For you" tab, so it can differ from what your app shows you.
  • What we add. X only gives a name, a search query and a rank. We keep each check, so the page can show how a trend moved in the last hour and, after a quick check that keeps automated scraping out, how long it has been in the top 50, its best rank in 24 hours and how many of six countries it is trending in.
  • What it can't tell you. X's trend list carries no post counts, so we don't show any rather than guess. To count the posts behind a trend, open a row and use the search call.
  • Filtered tags. This page hides a small number of betting and casino, adult and spam trends, plus gambling-ad boilerplate. National lotteries and their draw tags stay in. For X's unfiltered list, use the trends API call shown above.

Questions

How often is this list updated?

We fetch X's worldwide and country trend lists every 15 minutes and city lists every 30 minutes. The page itself is rebuilt every few minutes, and the label at the top shows how old the data is.

Why are the trends in my X app different?

The Trending tab in the app is personalised: it mixes in topics based on who you follow and where you are. This page shows X's list for a location, the same for everyone, so it can differ from yours.

Why doesn't this page show how many posts a trend has?

The trend list X provides has a name, a search query and a rank, but no post count. We'd rather show nothing than an estimate. Open a trend to search its posts on X, or count them with one search call to our API.

What does "Trending for" mean?

How long the trend has stayed in the top 50 without a break. A single missed check is allowed, so a trend flickering at the bottom of the list isn't reset. A plus sign means it was already trending when our 24-hour window starts.

Can I get these trends in my own app?

Yes. The trends endpoint returns up to 50 trends for any location id in one call, and you pay per call with no monthly plan. Open the JSON panel under the list for the exact request.
